Antonio Conte angry at Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann over Harry Kane comments

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has been left displeased after comments made by Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann regarding forward Harry Kane.

The Bayern Munich head coach was asked about the Spurs forward in an interview over the weekend and rather than keep mute, he did not hold back and claimed the Bavarians could move for the England captain in the future.

It is apparent that Bayern will move for a top forward next summer to fill in the void left by Robert Lewandowski, who left in the current window to join Barcelona. Harry Kane has been linked to the German champions and Nagelsmann’s comments only seemed to add fuel to those links.

The Bayern boss said about Kane: “He’s very expensive that’s the problem – but a brilliant player, one of two or three who can play as a centre forward [as well as a] No 10, but he’s very strong, brilliant with [his] head and both feet,”

“He could score a lot in the Bundesliga, I don’t know the price, but it’s really tough for Bayern Munich. We’ll see what happens in the future.”

Conte reacts to Nagelsmann’s comments

It is rather commonplace to see managers avoid talking about players from other clubs, even when a deal is close to completion. However, there is no rule that exactly says they can’t as it is mostly just done out of respect.

Tottenham boss has hit out at his Bayern counterpart, amid claims of disrespect after his comments directed at Harry Kane.

After Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Rangers in a pre-season friendly, Spurs boss Antonio Conte was notified about the comments from Nagelsmann and didn’t take it too nicely.

The Italian coach said: “I didn’t hear this. For sure I am a coach, but I don’t talk about players from other teams.”

“The situation in Tottenham is very clear…Harry is a part of the project, he is an important part of the project.”

“I don’t like to speak about players from other clubs. If I want to do something I go and speak to the club and not through the media. I think this is maybe disrespectful for the other club.”

The Harry Kane saga continues

It is no secret that Harry Kane has expressed his desire to leave Tottenham at several points over the past few seasons. Last summer, the forward particularly came close to leaving Spurs, amid interest from Manchester City, but decided to stay put at the club after several convincing from club chairman Daniel Levy.

The England captain is yet to win a single major trophy with Spurs and is eager to change that narrative as he approaches the latter years of his career.

Kane’s current contract with Tottenham will expire in 2024 and Nagelsmann’s latest comments have thrown the player’s situation into a frenzy once again.
