Borussia Dortmund glad at the departure of Erling Haaland

Borussia Dortmund say they are happy to see Erling Haaland leave the club this summer. The Bundesliga side claimed that the Norwegian striker had become a burden to the club.

Erling Haaland is one of the most talented players in the world today. The Norwegian bomber has found a way of banging in the goals and does it with reckless abandon. It is unlikely that there is any club in the world that would not want such an asset on its side.

While Haaland may have settled down in his new club, Borussia Dortmund envisages that the striker will eventually become a problem for the Citizens. The BVB claims that despite his talent and goal-scoring ability, they were glad to see him go.

Happy to see Haaland go

At Manchester City, Erling Haaland is doing great things. He is tearing up the record books in the Premier League and rewriting them. Any club would be reluctant to lose a gem like Haaland, but not Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga side claims they are happy to see the back off the Norwegian.

According to the sporting director at Dortmund, Sebastian Kehl, Haaland became an issue for the BVB to solve. Speaking with German outlet Bild, Kehl said the positive start to the season for Dortmund is evidence that the proven goalscorer had become a burden to the club.

While starring for Dortmund, Haaland bagged a stunning 86 goals in 89 appearances. As impressive as it is, Kehl says that the ten goals from ten different scorers the club have had this season prove the decision to sell the forward was right.

Kehl, however, denied that the club did not appreciate the contributions Haaland made to the club and the success he enjoyed while at Signal Iduna Park. In the end, Kehl said the youngster had become a burden, both in the dressing room and for the club.

An impressive start to life for Haaland at Manchester City

Erling Haaland has erased any doubts over his adjustment to the Premier League. The Norwegian has taken to the league like a fish to water. Haaland is proving there is not much to the Premier League and is etching his name in the record books in England.

The October issue of FourFourTwo has Erling Haaland as the cover star. The magazine features an exclusive interview with the former Borussia Dortmund striker. In the interview, Haaland told FFT he was keen to play for Manchester City, the club where his father also played. He continued that because of the interest in playing for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola did not have to sell the club to him.

Haaland has started the season in England with a bang. The Norwegian has scored 12 goals in eight games for the Citizens and includes impressive back-to-back Premier League hat-tricks.

Despite Haaland’s start to life at the Etihad, Kehl is adamant that his departure was good for the BVB. Kehl claims everything had become about the striker and was poisoning the environment. According to Kehl, the sale was timely, both for Dortmund and Man City.

Kehl added that he would have loved to see the back of the Norwegian earlier as his late departure stalled their preparation for the season.

Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge Haaland, also featured for the Sky Blues between 2000 and 2003.
