Carlo Ancelotti responds to revelation of Kylian Mbappe’s contract

  • by

Reports suggest that Kylian Mbappe has a contract at PSG that lasts for two years, not three as earlier speculated. Carlo Ancelotti says that Real Madrid are happy with the youngsters they have in the team.

Real Madrid have started the season in fine form, winning all the matches they have played in all competitions. In the top five European leagues – Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1, Los Merengues are the only club with a hundred per cent winning record. It is an impressive run so far this season.

The Spanish giants put their record on the line when they take on Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday night. Los Blancos have outscored their opponents in every game this season, and the Estadio Bernabeu will come alive again when the Germans enter the town.

Carlo Ancelotti has had to cope with a few injuries in his squad, especially the UEFA player of the year Karim Benzema. The Frenchman will be out for a couple of weeks, and while Los Blancos have not shown an over-reliance on the striker, Ancelotti has had to field questions concerning a replacement. Talks have continued to swirl around a possible future move of PSG star man Kylian Mbappe.

Questions over Mbappe’s future

Real Madrid can hardly go anywhere without questions about Kylian Mbappe cropping up. The Spanish giants are known to have coveted the World Cup winner but seem to have moved past their failure to land him last summer. Vinicius Junior is helping to put the ghost of Mbappe behind them, yet the questions refuse to die.

Ahead of the Champions League clash between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig, Ancelotti faced questions concerning Kylian Mbappe, but the exasperated Italian was not open to discussing the matter. The questions have cropped up again following revelations that Mbappe has a contract that expires in 2024 and not 2025.

Mbappe has become the face of PSG, forming a solid trident with Lionel Messi and Neymar that has kept the Paris club at the top of Ligue 1. Despite his comfortable position at the Parc des Princes, questions continue to surround the future of the French star. There are doubts about whether he will extend his contract beyond 2024.

A deal for the Frenchman

The last two summers have seen Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain tussle. The La Liga giants openly coveted Kylian Mbappe and sought to bring him to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. PSG rejected a humungous final-day bid for Mbappe in the summer of 2021.

Real Madrid continued to badger the Frenchman and believed they had a deal to sign Mbappe on a free transfer this summer. It was a shock for the hierarchy at Los Blancos when Mbappe agreed to a new contract with PSG. The new deal, which made Mbappe one of the highest earners, was initially thought to be a three-year contract, but recent revelations suggest it is a two-year deal with an option for a third.

According to L’Equipe, Mbappe has a contract guaranteed for two years, with the 2024/25 season an option the Frenchman can trigger. The revelation has generated a new wave of speculation over his future.

When asked about Mbappe, Ancelotti responded – I give up. The Italian gaffer said the team is happy with youngsters Vinicius and Rodrygo and not thinking of others at the moment.
