Christian Pulisic in talks with Juventus over £31m move

  • by

Christian Pulisic has failed to hit the heights since he arrived at Stamford Bridge. Juventus are keen to land the 24-year-old American and is already in talks with Chelsea over his signature.

When Chelsea signed Frank Lampard as their manager, they hoped to reproduce the successes teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona did with their former players as managers. While Pep Guardiola won several league and Champions League titles, Zinedine Zidane set records as the only manager to win the UCL three times in a row.

Frank Lampard could not achieve a tenth of what Pep and Zidane did. He was backed heavily in the market by Roman Abramovich, but the relationship eventually became sour. One of the players Lampard signed is Christian Pulisic.

The American winger has not been able to find his feet since he arrived at Stamford Bridge. Even his former manager at Borussia Dortmund could not bring back the spark in the winger. Now it seems the days of Pulisic at Chelsea are over as Juventus is hovering over the American winger.

Juventus are interested in Pulisic

Things have not worked well for Christian Pulisic at Chelsea. The American winger has worked under two managers, with Graham Potter the third, but the future at Chelsea looks bleak. Once touted as a player with a bright future, it seems the American will not fulfil his potential at Stamford Bridge, and a move away from the club is on the cards.

Juventus have indicated an interest in the American winger and have already opened talks with him. Pulisic might find Turin a happier abode and may be able to reignite his career in the Serie A.Talks are underway over a £31 million move away from Chelsea.

The good performances by Pulisic at Chelsea have been few and far between. Pulisic has struggled with injuries since arriving at Stamford Bridge and could not establish himself as a regular goalscorer. The performances by Pulisic have seen him relegated to the bench. A bad relationship with Thomas Tuchel compounded his issues. Despite the arrival of Graham Potter, Pulisic still seeks a move to Juventus.

Lack of game time

One of the main issues for Pulisic is a lack of game time, but his poor performances have not encouraged his managers to give him a run-out on a few occasions. The American winger has also failed to capitalize on opportunities.

Calcio Mercato reports that Juventus have already made contact with Pulisic, who has been keen on a Turin move for some time. The media outlet also claims that despite his lack of game time, Chelsea wants £31 million for the 24-year-old.

Pulisic has made only one start in the Premier League this season. Under Tuchel, he was a regular substitute but has failed to impress Potter since his arrival.

Chelsea is sixth in the Premier League log after six games, with wins hard to come by. It is a disappointing start to the season for a team that outspent all others in the summer. Todd Boehly hopes that the new manager Graham Potter can steer the club in the right direction.

The Blues are up against Crystal Palace on Saturday, October 1.
