Forget about him – Ex-United man Javier Hernandez hits at the club over Ferguson’s recent appointment

Ex-Manchester United man Javier Hernandez says the Red Devils must move on from Sir Alex Ferguson and his comments come in the wake of a recent appointment for the 80-year-old.

The great Scot was famously the manager of United for 26 years, with Mexican forward Hernandez playing a key role in the Red Devils’ title triumphs in 2011 and 2013.

Replacing a manager as influential as Ferguson has seen the likes of David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer come and go.

New manager Ten Hag is in the headlines after a baptism of fire that saw United suffer an opening day home defeat by Brighton at the weekend.

Just recently, Ferguson was given a role in the club as part of a new United thinkthank, which will advise the club on several issues, alongside former CEO David Gill, former captain Bryan Robson and football director John Murtough.

Hernandez says United must get over Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson’s appointment caused much controversy within the United fanbase, with many claiming the club should have refrained from associating with the Scotsman once more.

And LA Galaxy’s Hernandez is in agreement, saying new manager Erik Ten Hag should be allowed to create his own legacy instead.

“To substitute a man like that is not easy. It is like winning the lottery. Do you think anyone you hire afterwards is going to be able to do 80 per cent of what Ferguson did?”

“My point of view is that after Ferguson brings so much pressure that it just isn’t going to work out,’ said Hernandez.”

“United need to now get over the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson has gone. Would we like to have someone similar? Yes, yes, yes. But Sir Alex has gone and it is never going to be the same.”

“So United have to adapt and allow the next manager to do it in his own way.”

Hernandez scored 59 goals in 159 appearances at Old Trafford and did not hold back in talking about how badly the club has fallen from grace.

“The problem is that the other difficulty is that United are not in the Champions League, so some players aren’t going to come.”

“Of course, some players will always want to come to Manchester United. But others won’t come because they’re not in the Champions League.”

“If another club can offer Champions League then who do you choose? You choose the best club for your career. It is so difficult.”

United’s struggles in the transfer market

In an uncharacteristic nature, United have struggled in the transfer market, with players turning down the Red Devils at every turn. Once upon a time, players dreamed to play for United but the club’s fall from grace is well-documented, as they can’t even offer Champions League football at the moment.
