Manchester United move for Adrien Rabiot as De Jong pursuit stalls

  • by

Manchester United have contacted Juventus over the availability of midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The Red Devils hope to sign the midfielder, among other targets, before the transfer window closes.

United have become a desperate side, and desperation rarely leads to acting right. The Red Devils seem afraid to take the tough decisions. They need top-quality players in the squad but have several average players running around at Old Trafford.

At least the management can agree on one thing – the club is rowing in the wrong direction. Perhaps the thought is that more quality players in the squad will rub off on the average ones and make them better.

The Red Devils have been after several players this summer with little success. The most high-profile is Frenkie de Jong, who seems uninterested in a move to Old Trafford. Perhaps the club has been advised to go for other prospects. The latest United link is Adrien Rabiot, who the club feel can perform the same role as De Jong.

Manchester United go after Rabiot

Following the lack of success in signing Frenkie de Jong, Manchester United seem to be moving on to other targets. The Dutch midfielder is not keen to join a Europa League club. The club may have accepted their fate and are moving forward.

Manchester United have reached out to Juventus over midfielder Adrien Rabiot. Sources have told ESPN that United are serious about landing the France international.

United believe Juventus are willing to sell Rabiot and ESPN reports that the player is keen to join the Old Trafford side. The report suggests that Rabiot does not mind playing in the Premier League. According to ESPN, his mother and agent Veronique, have held preliminary talks with Manchester United.

Rabiot believes United is a top club and would relish the pressure of returning the Red Devils to the top under Erik Ten Hag.

Rabiot’s status

Adrien Rabiot joined Juventus in 2019. The Bianconer priced him from Paris Saint-Germain but are yet to get the best out of him. The France international has a year left on his contract, and sources have informed ESPN that he is available for a cut-price fee.

Massimiliano Allegri does not have the French midfielder in his plans this season. Rabiot has seen his form depreciate following the instability of the coaching at the club. In three years, Rabiot has played under three managers at Juventus.

United are also after other targets as they hope to build a team sturdy enough to challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

Besides a midfielder, United hopes to sign a forward before the window shuts down. The Red Devils have been negotiating with Marko Arnautovic at Bologna and Benjamin Sesko at FC Salzburg. The discussions have not had any breakthrough yet.
