Mohamed Salah ends transfer speculation, renews contract with Liverpool

After much speculation over his future, Mohamed Salah has finally put pen to paper and has signed a new-deal with Liverpool until 2025.

The Egyptian had another stellar campaign, where he won the FWA Footballer of the Year and the PFA Players’ Player of the Year awards. After playing a key role as the Reds finished with a domestic cup double, the forward has now committed his future to the Reds by extending his stay at the club.

After five seasons with Liverpool, Salah will now extend a profitable stay at Anfield that has seen him score a remarkable 156 goals in 254 appearances across all competitions.

Liverpool signed Salah from Roma back in 2017 and the Egyptian showed his worth immediately, bagging 44 goals in his debut season across all competitions. He scored thirty-two of those goals in the Premier League and set the record for most goals scored in a 38-game season in the league.

Salah wants to win more trophies at Liverpool

Speaking after signing his new deal, Salah spoke positively about his contract and expressed his desire to keep making history with the club.

“I feel great and [I am] excited to win trophies with the club. It’s a happy day for everyone, he said to the club’s official website.

“It takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done so we just need to focus on what’s next.

“I think you can see in the last five or six years the team was always going [upwards]. Last season we were close to winning four, but unfortunately in the last week of the season we lost two trophies.

“I think we are in a good position to fight for everything. We have new signings as well. We just need to keep working hard, have a good vision, be positive and go for everything again.”

What a new deal means for Salah and Liverpool

Mo Salah’s new wages of £400,000-per-week will now make him one of the highest paid footballers across the globe and the top earner in the Premier League. The fact that the FSG owners at Liverpool broke their wage structure to keep him at the club showed how important they saw this piece of business.

Salah currently sits in ninth place on the list of Liverpool’s all-time top scorers – and this deal represents an opportunity for him to take himself further up on the chart as well as write his name in the history books with more titles.

In a summer where they have already lost Sadio Mane, keeping Salah and even breaking their structure to do so was rather smart from Liverpool.
