Thierry Henry has defended the actions of Kylian Mbappe during the game between PSG and Montpellier at the weekend.

Mbappe appeared to be sulking when Vitinha chose to pass to Messi instead of the French superstar during a counterattack.

When Real Madrid saved up money and refused to buy players because they wanted to splash it on Kylian Mbappe, Los Blancos believed they were going after a player who could change their fortunes for the better. In retrospect, they might have been wrong. At least Florentino Perez has admitted that the Mbappe he sees is different from the one he wanted to buy.

Perhaps Mbappe is now sucked into the pride that sometimes comes with having people pay obeisance to one like he is a deity. The PSG hierarchy gave Mbappe the impression that he was a special one. They pampered him, lapped up his poo and put him on a pedestal, suggesting he was not just a king but a deity.

The signs are ominous at PSG. There seems to be disaffection in the ranks, with Mbappe at the centre of it all. The France international was at the centre of controversy last weekend when PSG beat Montpellier 5-2, but Thierry Henry has come to his defence.

Mbappe becomes a problem at the Parc des Princes

PSG are unrivalled in the French Ligue 1. The bets are always in their favour to beat all-comers in the league, but it is on the continent they have issues. The club is up to the rafters with superstars, but too many spices usually spoil the broth. It is the situation that PSG have to deal with at the moment.

It seems like Kylian Mbappe is out to prove that he is the big dog, but all that effort put in by the club to retain his services seems to be going to his head. The young forward was spotted sulking when PSG demolished Montpellier at the weekend. Mbappe appeared to stop running midway during a counterattack.

Mbappe may have scored in the game, but he had earlier missed a penalty and contested with strike partner Neymar to take a second penalty. Neymar stood his ground and scored the penalty.

Rumours of a rift between Mbappe and the Brazilian have increased due to the actions of the French forward.

Henry leaps to Mbappe’s defence

With all the shenanigans at PSG, Thierry Henry has come to the defence of his compatriot Kylian Mbappe. Former France international sees nothing in the strop by Mbappe when PSG played against Montpellier.

Henry refused to criticise Mbappe. The former Arsenal and Barcelona forward preferred to defend Mbappe’s actions. According to Henry, there is always a problem at PSG after several high-profile fallouts within the top brass at the club last season.

Henry believes it’s a good thing as Mbappe is trying his best level. Henry made his comments while on punditry duty for Prime Sports Video France. According to the 1998 World Cup winner, the new coach Galtier needs the formula to fit Messi, Neymar and Mbappe. He believes it is his job to make them happy.

Galtier also came to the defence of his forward. He told Canal Plus that Mbappe is a competitor that wants to be good quickly despite playing his last game three weeks ago. Galtier also said it takes a little time to regain 100 per cent of his athletic abilities.

Maybe Florentino Perez is right after all, and something has snapped in Mbappe.
