Tottenham make transfer decision on Harry Kane

  • by

Reports suggest Bayern Munich are interested in signing Harry Kane as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski. However, Tottenham have labeled the England captain as untouchable and are unwilling to negotiate.

Antonio Conte should be a happy man these days. The Italian is one manager that is happy when he gets new shiny toys. At Tottenham, a club famed for being stingy rather than prudent, Conte is getting out of Daniel Levy what Jose Mourinho couldn’t get.

The summer transfer has been active for Spurs, with a couple of players walking through the door. The north London club are serious about their objectives this season. It is, however, hard to tell what the target is. Are Spurs challenging for titles? Are they just content with making the top four and a good showing in the Champions League?

One thing is obvious and it is the fact that Conte has no excuses but to deliver. While Spurs have signed a few players to bolster their squad, the Lilywhites have ensured that no player needed for the cause has left the club. Amid interest from a few sides, Spurs have put a massive not-for-sale sign on their star player Harry Kane.

Harry Kane to stay put

Not too long ago, Harry Kane was the subject of interest from Manchester City. The England international was supposed to be the last piece of the puzzle for City, but Daniel Levy was handy in frustrating the striker leaving the club.

Once again, Kane, who has never won any team trophies despite his achievements, is a subject of interest from Bayern Munich. Daniel Levy is once again off to bat for his side. Reports suggest that the north London club will not listen to any offers for the 28-year-old.

With Robert Lewandowski poised to leave the Allianz Arena this summer, the Bavarians are looking for a suitable replacement for the striker. The Polish striker is angling for a move to Barcelona before the transfer window slams shut.

Kicker reports that Bayern see Kane as adequately suited for their team. The Englishman has stats matching Lewandowski, who scored 50 goals in 46 appearances last season. Despite the interest in Kane, Fabrizio Romano reports that Spurs are not even welcoming the idea of a sale.

A new deal, a brighter future

According to Romano, Spurs want to start negotiations with Kane over a new contract shortly. They hope to commit him to the club for longer.

Manchester City came the closest to landing Harry Kane, but the Sky Blues were muscled out of a deal by the price tag put on the striker. The Citizens have moved on from that fiasco and have signed a younger and more enterprising player in Erling Haaland.

The 2021-22 campaign was not so successful for Harry Kane on personal terms. The English striker scored 27 goals and ten assists in 50 appearances for Tottenham. Seventeen goals and nine assists came in the Premier League to help Spurs finish fourth on the table and secure a Champions League spot.

The signing of Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Clement Lenglet may have convinced Kane to stay put this summer. Spurs are still interested in signing more players to beef up their squad.
