Zinedine Zidane’s agent plays down report of PSG agreement

  • by

Zinedine Zidane’s representative has come out to publicly state that his client has not agreed any deal to join Paris Saint Germain.

The Ligue 1 champions are expected to part ways with current manager Mauricio Pochettino. This has become even more possible with the appointment of Luis Campos as the new sporting director.

The Frenchman has been out of work since his second departure from Real Madrid. He enjoyed a wonderful time at the club after becoming the first manager to win the UEFA champions league thrice in a row. However, he had a difficult end to his stay with the Spanish giants, with reports circulating that he was not in agreement with the hierarchy at the time.

Zidane is currently in Qatar

According to 90min, the former Real Madrid manager is currently in Qatar. Though, it is still not clear his mission in Qatar. Speculations have emerged that he is there to discuss with the PSG hierarchy, especially since it is no longer a secret that the French club is interested in signing him.

From a logical standpoint, it makes sense to see why PSG are interested in Zidane. Despite all their financial investment over the past decade, they have faltered on continental front and the closest they came to winning the Champions League is reaching the final in 2020. Speaking about Champions Leagues, Zidane appears to be something of a specialist on that front and being a legendary Frenchman himself, it will help him endear the fans easily. There’s also the added incentive in the fact that Kylian Mbappe is a big fan of Zidane and has never hidden that.

Agent denies rumours of an agreement with PSG

However, Zidane’s representative Alain Miglaccio has come out to rubbish claims that his client has agreed to take over at the Parc des Princes despite reports stating otherwise.

“All these rumours circulating are unfounded, To date, I am the only person admitted to represent and advise Zinedine Zidane. Neither Zinedine Zidane nor I have been contacted directly by the PSG owner,” Alain Miglaccio stated.

Though, the reports look to be generating more truth with the Frenchman’s presence in Qatar, especially as that is the headquarters of the Parisian club. However, with the agent’s statements, we can rule out any possible move for the time being.

Moreover, it remains to be seen when PSG will part ways with Pochettino. Reports suggest that with the new contract signed by Kylian Mbappe, he was the one who requested for a change in manager and has specifically requested his compatriot Zidane to take the reins. Once again, it remains to be seen if there is any truth to those claims.
