  • by

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will continue his adventure at AC Milan this season as a contract offer is already on the table. The 40-year-old is recovering from a knee surgery that should see him out till early 2023.

What is it with Serie A teams and ageing players? Juventus take their nickname too literally, and AC Milan are also in the mix. Perhaps like wine, they taste better with age. The new season is just around the corner, and most clubs are trying to bolster their squads. In the age football finds itself, it is a high-risk manoeuvre that comes with plenty of cash.

Serie A teams are trying to keep up with the game but face a paucity of funds. It has ensured that they have to work with their heads rather than their hearts. The top clubs AC Milan and Juventus are in dire straits – bogged with massive debts, yet they have to compete.

The last time a Serie A team featured in the final of the Champions League was in 2017, and they lost scandalously. Juventus lost 4-1 to Real Madrid. The last Serie A team to win the Champions League is AC Milan, but the Rossoneri have been out of the competition for many years now. The Rossoneri returns to Europe’s elite club competition and need to make a good showing.

While signing players has been arduous for the team that wears red and black, they have decided to extend the contract of the ageless Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede led the Rossoneri to the Scudetto and would hope to see them make a good showing in the Champions League.

Zlatan’s Rossoneri adventure continues

When is Zlatan Ibrahimovic going to hang up the boots? The Swede is not keen on quitting the game soon, and AC Milan have offered him the opportunity to continue his football career at the Guiseppe Meazza stadium.

With his AC Milan adventure ready to continue, Zlatan has to stay fit to remain relevant on the pitch.

The 40-year-old is recovering from a severe knee injury, but it does not undermine his importance in the Rossoneri dressing room. The club are aware of the value of the Swede. It is why they have extended his contract, despite his age.

Zlatan will turn 41 in October but wants another shot at the limelight. He underwent surgery earlier this summer as he aims to correct the knee troubles that bogged him during the second half of the 2021/22 season. The big Swede was only able to play ten minutes each game and managed to train once a week.

The return of the king

Zlatan will be out of action for a while but should return to action at the start of 2023. Milan are aware of his determination to return to the pitch, and they know it will get him back into top shape. Tuttosport reports that the renewal is just around the corner, with the signing imminent.

There is an agreement, with the fixed part of the contract being his salary. Zlatan’s salary will be €1-1.5 million, while the rest will come as bonuses attached to individual targets like goals and assists.

The player is currently on vacation recovering from the surgery.
