Manchester United complete Christian Eriksen deal

Manchester United have completed the signing of Denmark international Christian Eriksen. The midfielder joins on a three-year contract with the Red Devils.

The summer transfer market is quite interesting, with Premier League clubs making an impression.

Standards in the Premier League are high, thanks to Manchester City, who have won the league four of the last five times. The Citizens were pushed to the wire by Liverpool, and pundits expect the Anfield side to repeat the act this season.

Man City have bolstered their squad by signing Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez. Liverpool signed Darwin Nunez, while Arsenal and Tottenham have also been active in the market. Spurs signed Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Clement Lenglet, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma.

While the top five teams are not slacking off in the market, Manchester United were initially having a torrid time getting players to come to Old Trafford. However, things have begun to fall in place for the Red Devils in the transfer market. The pursuit of their targets is yielding dividends.

Man United signs Christian Eriksen

Following the signing of Tyrell Malacia, Manchester United have succeeded with their second signing of the summer.

The Red Devils made an official statement concerning the signing of the Dane, announcing securing his services. Eriksen becomes the second summer signing of Manchester United.

The Dane expressed delight at joining Manchester United on a free transfer. He opines that United is a unique club, and he is eager to get started. Eriksen said he played at Old Trafford on several occasions. According to the midfielder, there is a unique feeling about playing at the Theatre of Dreams.

Eriksen praised Erik Ten Hag, describing his work at Ajax as exceptional, and believes Ten Hag puts a high level of detail and preparation into his work.

Back from the low levels

Eriksen looked on his way out of football, but his fairytale comeback is remarkable. He suffered a cardiac arrest at UEFA Euro 2020, with the career of the 30-year-old Denmark international seemingly over.

He returned to training a few months later but could not continue his Inter Milan career as Serie A rules prevent players from playing with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator.

Eriksen got a reprieve to his career as Brentford handed him a way back to football. While with the Bees, he repaid the faith in him generously, with excellent displays.

In 11 appearances, the Dane scored a goal and provided four assists to help Brentford retain their Premier League status. Following the conclusion of his Brentford contract, Eriksen became a free agent and will now feature for Manchester United for the next three years.

He would jostle for a place with Bruno Fernandes in the Red Devils’ midfield, with the Old Trafford side still hoping to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.
